The ARC recently updated the following policies:
- Updated to include a formal Policy statement and clarify content required when proposing food restriction experiments.
- Changed the required frequency of weighing restricted animals from every other day to twice per week, unless indicated in the ARC protocol.
- Added a statement about food restriction and weight loss for management of obesity.
2. Multiple Survival Surgeries
- Removed statement indicating that operative procedures should be done at one time whenever possible, as this may not be in the best interest of animal welfare.
3. Non-survival Surgical Procedures
- Minor clarifications were made that do not change ARC requirements.
