Dear UCLA Research Community,
On April 1st and 2nd 2026, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) will inspect UCLA Campus laboratories, clinics, and any other locations generating medical waste.
EH&S will escort CDPH Inspectors through campus, as they inspect facilities that handle, store, or generate medical waste (biohazardous, pharmaceutical, pathology, trace-chemotherapy wastes) to ensure compliance with the California Medical Waste Act.
EH&S has created this checklist to help prepare facilities for the visit. Labs are requested to be available during the site visit, in order to provide access for the CDPH inspectors.
